About
Power Deal Approvals is a free tracker of US utility and power-generation M&A as deals move through regulatory review: FERC Section 203, state utility commissions, the NRC, HSR antitrust review and, where relevant, CFIUS.
It's run by an energy M&A practitioner who wanted one clean page per deal showing what's approved, what's pending, and who's advising.
Methodology
- Every fact links to a public source: SEC filings, company press releases, regulator dockets, reputable press.
- Anything we couldn't verify is marked unknown. Statuses can lag dockets, so check the primary source.
- Speculative and unconfirmed entries are kept apart from tracked deals. They are hidden from the main lists by default and left out of every total and the league table.
- League table: each adviser gets credit for the full deal value; no weighting.
Speculative & unconfirmed deals
This list shows deals that are reported, not yet filed or approved. Not confirmed. Speculative means reported talks or rumors. Unconfirmed means announced in a press release or by the press with no regulatory filing found. Each entry has a confidence rating (high/medium/low), a reason and at least one public source URL.
Promotion rule: an entry moves to the tracked deals once a regulatory filing or docket exists (FERC, a state commission, NRC, or an HSR filing confirmed by the parties). We drop an entry if the talks are reported as ended or if it stays unconfirmed for a long time with no update.
